About the Author(s): | Since leaving LAMDA David Ripley has worked in most types of theatre in the UK as well as in most departments. He started in the West End on many of the early eighties least memorable shows. He then worked at the Hexagon in Reading before moving to Nottingham Playhouse. After a short time in the conference industry, he taught sound and lighting at the Guildford School of Acting before becoming technical and eventually production manager at The Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke. During this time, he lit over 30 shows at the Haymarket and on tour.
Since then he has worked, in some capacity, at all four of the UK’s Royal Drama Schools, (possibly a record) and taught at several other leading UK drama schools. In 2004, in conjunction with LeMark David was the winner of the ABTT widget of the Year.
David also provides CAD draughting and consultancy services to the industry as a whole. He is one of the co-compilers of the ABTT CAD Standards, which are held on the cad4theatre website and teaches on the ABTT Gold Award as well as providing their AutoCAD training courses.
David is head of the technical support department at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
He is married with three daughters. |
